The Purple Iris Inn opened c 1917 in Chevy Chase DC, part of the teahouse craze of the 1910s and 1920s. In the 1920s Berthold N Colle (1893-1965), a native of Luxembourg, bought the restaurant and ran it until it closed around 1950. Replaced by three new houses in the 1950s. …
