James Earl Powell (1912-2000) purchased the Bob Inn from the Norman W. Oyster Company in the 1950s and ran it through the 1960s. The Bob Inn was in the Tompkins Building on 14th St NW just north of Park Road in Columbia Heights. It was a popular hangout for gays in the 1960s. …
